An immigrant from Africa didn’t know anybody in NYC when he stepped off the plane at JFK Airport in 2007, with a suitcase and $50 with him. Now he’s working up the ranks of the NYPD, and a recognized face in the East Village. NBC New York’s Marc Santia reports.
